Telefónica’s Vivo has become the first Latin American player to deliver live basketball games in virtual reality (VR).
As the 2017/18 season is about to begin, the Brazilian telco has announced that premium subscribers to the NBA content package and NBA League Pass will have access to 27 matches – one per week – broadcast in VR.
Subscribers will also have access to replays and highlights in virtual reality. The full schedule of VR games will be released before the season starts.
Users intending to use the VR feature need to install the NextVR application, only available for Android devices, and have virtual reality glasses compatible with their smartphone. Users can then log-in through Vivo’s NBA application.
Following a partnership agreement reached in April, Vivo became the NBA’s official operator in Brazil, gaining access to exclusive games broadcast for mobile devices.
