How Intel Uses VR Storytelling For Winter Olympics

Intel has been dropping jaws with its drone display at the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony, even if the weather meant pre-recording the spectacle, and its continuing virtual reality coverage of the games.

Intel will also make history during the Winter Olympics by powering the largest-scale virtual reality Winter Olympics event to-date. Together with rights-holding broadcasters, Intel will capture a record 30 Olympic events that will live on the NBC Sports VR app for all fans to experience as if they were there.

Intel’s VR storytelling includes a digital video series, “Experience the Moment,” profiling the heartwarming journeys of four competing athletes in virtual reality.
 
Intel used its True VR technology to tell the stories of ice hockey-competing sisters Marissa (Korea) and Hannah (U.S.) Brandt, Team Japan snowboarder Ayuma Hirano and China’s short-track speed skater Fan Kexin, all sharing their moments of triumph and perseverance that led them to the Games:
