First-person anime series One Room put you in the shoes of a typical anime protagonist, letting you get up close and personal with the show’s three heroines. And soon, that experience may be taken even further, into the world of virtual reality.
Smiral is now crowdfunding a 3DCG VR remake of the anime’s first story arc, featuring heroine Yui Hanasaka (CV M.A.O). The campaign, which is running on Japanese crowdfunding site Campfire, is 24% of the way to its 1 million yen goal as of this writing.
The full mechanics of the app are still being explored, but so far it’s known that you’ll be able to converse and go about regular daily activities with her. There will also apparently be a “sleep mode” where you can rest with your head on her lap.
Rewards range from posters and VR smartphone headsets to invitations to a kickoff VR experience and artwork of “your” apartment. Fans can also get an image album featuring songs performed by M.A.O.
The One Room VR crowdfunding campaing runs until February 27 at 11:59 PM JST.
