Windows 10 Creators Update To Roll Out On Apr. 11

Microsoft’s Windows 10 Creators Update has finally received a launch date — April 11. Microsoft had announced the Windows 10 Creators Update at its event held last October. Microsoft also unveiled the Surface Studio all-in-one PC and the Surface Book i7. The company has begun pre-orders for both these devices in global markets and will be available for purchase on April 20. The devices will however not reach India anytime soon. The Surface Studio all-in-one PC is priced at $2,999 (Rs 200,600 approximately), and the Surface Book i7 is priced at $2,399 (Rs 160,500 approximately).

Microsoft said that the Windows 10 Creators Update is ‘all about creating and playing’. This update is focused on engaging users with mixed reality — augmented reality, virtual reality, and 3D design. The Windows 10 Creators Update will upgrade the decade-old Paint with Paint 3D allowing users to create 3D objects from scratch or turn a 2D picture into 3D. Integrating with Remix3D.com, one can choose pre-made 3D art from their online library and contribute one’s own creation with the community. In addition to the mixed reality Windows 10 Creators Update offers, the world’s first Windows Mixed Reality-enabled headset will be available later this year priced at $299 (Rs 19,500 approximately). Microsoft says that these headsets ‘will contain built-in sensors to enable inside-out, six-degrees of freedom, allowing for easy setup and free movement without the need for external markers or sensors in the wall’.

Microsoft Edge browser also gets new features like advanced tab management. One can also download eBooks from Windows Store and read them on Microsoft Edge browser across all Windows 10 devices. Netflix content will be available in 4K Ultra HD resolution on Microsoft Edge browser. Microsoft’s night light feature already available on smartphones, will come to the Windows 10 Creators Update.

Microsoft’s most powerful Surface Book yet, the Surface Book i7 is powered by the latest Intel Core i7 processor. Microsoft has doubled the graphics performance, improved the battery life by up to 30 percent and also improved the pixels. The upgraded Surface Book can now run for up to 16 hours on a single charge, Microsoft says. Continuing with the same design as the existing model, Microsoft has added a new fan to keep the internals cool.
