Google unveiled a new artificial intelligence app called Google Lens, aimed at bringing augmented reality to your camera.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the app will recognize visuals in a live camera view and give the user information about what is on the screen.
He envisioned that someone could point the camera at a flower, and Google Lens would be able to identify what flower it is and pop up web search information about it in camera view.
The same can work for restaurants. Point the camera at a cafe building, and the app will pull up Yelp reviews in real time. The app can also immediately connect your phone to a wireless network by pointing the camera at a paper with the username and password.
